Phone Tariffs from now on: "No Extra fees" added on for cross border use
In case you missed it elsewhere, #roaming tariffs across the EU are being unified, simplified and the cost brought right down from June 15, 2017. The bottom line is no extra charges! This includes those of us resident in #Greece where the national authority – the Hellenic Telecommunications & Post Commission has to ensure the Greek suppliers of mobile phone services – #Vodafone , #Cosmote and #Wind comply. In #Cyprus the similar regulatory authority is under the acronym of #GERIET.
What the new rule means is that when travelling anywhere in the EU you the consumer should never be paying more than you would in your home country (domestic price). All calls, texts and data made via roaming are covered and included.
Such a complex scenario has required a gradual alignment process with adjustments made in July 2014 and April 2016 towards the final “no extra fees” situation from June 15, 2017.
As the UK is still in the #EU family on June 15, 2017 it too is covered by this initiative from the European Commission under its Single Digital Market policy.
