I’m surprised Mod hasn’t issued a warning to the joker re. racists jokes.
It’s all fine and dandy to pull the joker up on Muslim sensitivities but to hell with the Irish. There’s obviously an agenda with her/him as regards the Irish.
I had occasion, several years ago, to pull him on his constant attack on the Irish, but he can’t resist. He/she might not realise this but there are members of this forum who are Irish and these members would expect the Moderator to have regard to these Irish members.
I never see French, Polish, German, English, Scots etc bashing
through the medium of so called jokes but the Irish are fair game it seems.

            Hello Bernard

Clearly being on the end of any joke is not funny especially if it is derogatory.

I see from your stated address the angst why you feel the way you do about how the "Irish" get their fair share of targetted jokes.

Humour is such a subjective value, it really is hard to know where to draw the line.

I just felt that on this occasion several members had taken the trouble to PM me and I agreed with their viewpoint. Hence the comment I made at the original post location:

Gerald thank you for your prompt response. I understand you have to steer a delicate course while moderating a forum and I think, on the whole you do an excellent job.
One observation, the constant posting of jokes on the forum seems to me a bit obsessional. One can purchase reams of books, videos, visit the internet, etc if they want to view jokes so why would someone go to the bother of posting a constant stream of jokes.
Perhaps obsessional may be the wrong description, Munchausen Syndrome may be more appropriate.

We welcome ALL posts here. I moderate only as much as necessary to "keep the peace" and maintain clarity.

Obviously some people accept cultural jokes and others are very sensitive. I had not received any complaints so I left them alone. Most jokes affect somebody – on the basis of age, race, religion, nationality, profession. I’m not going to make a judgement about what’s acceptable but, if somebody finds a post really offensive – especially if targeted directly at themselves – then please contact me immediately.

Apologies. I just discovered that was not receiving notification of PMs. I have now corrected that setting so, in future, I should respond quickly.
