Hi Gerald,
Helping Hands is a charity organization started up recently by Izzie McClean a Scottish lady living in the Apokoronas area and working in association with the Municipality of Apokoronas.
The aim is to help provide food, clothing and items of furniture for those in need i.e. those who have little or no pensions and also those who, through no fault of their own are unable to earn an income.
All donations are collected by volunteers and taken to a dis-used school in Agios Pandes where they are divided up according to the needs of the people in the area and distributed by the local priests of the villages.
Collection ‘baskets’ for non-perishable foods, tioletries, etc can be found in the local supermarkets in Georgiopolis and surrounds other items can be left at Sinatra’s Bar Georgiopolis for collection.
I hope that this is of some help. If anyone would like more info please pm me or call into Sinatra’s.
Thanks for reading. Kate
