        Binx,

I did indeed have a troubled childhood. When young my parents sold me to a band of travelling Gypsies and then, if that wasn’t troubling enough, a few years later I noticed a second head growing off my left shoulder. Admittedly, and once he learned to talk, I wasn’t so lonely but do you know how hard it is to get shirts to fit when the collar size is double the norm?

ps €60 per week in Carrefour is €3120 per year or 39% of your claimed total annual expenditure.

He could have been a "heavy metal" fan!

Funnily, he did go through a Heavy Metal phase but common sense and a quick punch to the mouth persuaded him that Silence is Golden.

                                Binx,
Just love your gymnastic approach to the world of Greek finance. It sounds as if you would give the local politicians a run for their money.

Good on you. Keep it up…or possibly down.

I will leave that to the experts such as TD, I am just a lowly bargain hunter, and an expert on how to live cheap and cheerfull.

By God did we struggle when we first came here, nothing worse than being green behind the gills and knowing nothing, " learn to trust us " one Greek woman said , yes and she ripped us off.

Usual " Trogan horse " beware the gifts from the Greeks, it still stands today.

                                        Mostly not.

                                        Not in my experience.

Can I please point out that surviving on 8,000 seven years ago was possible, now however I do not think it is possible.

We had no choice but to struggle years ago, we did manage very well, but do not knock it until you try it.

As for the exit from the euro, today our friends told us they went to the bank to withdraw their money, the bank had no money and no customers, previously my friends used to wait in line for over an hour.

For those finance types, on exit from the euro –
If you have a mortgage from a Greek Bank in euros will the balance be converted to New Drachmas and devalue making your repayments much less?
This was reported as a possibility in a UK broadsheet recently.
