For the first time e to get some ever, I had a look at the Brits in Crete website to look for information regarding car tax here in Crete. I am a bit baffled by what I read, can anybody clarify this, the heading reads:
CAR TAX RENEWAL
Annual car insurance (Insurance?) is now automated and your Crete home address for your Greek Tax Number is where the annual car tax renewal is sent.
I have never received a car tax renewal notice here, is this the case?
Officially known as "circulation tax" the annual ‘car’ tax in my case is now all handled by my accountant.
They have access to the information online (as you should). They know when the government releases the information and the fee that needs to be paid for each make of car.
I have never received the ‘advice’ at my residential or registered address shown on the car document issued when I bought the car..
Other accountants contact their clients and ask them to go to their offices; print out the specific document related to renewal and asked to go and pay at any post office. Stickers to be placed in the car windscreen are no longer issued.
I know how to print my form off and have done for several years. My queries relate to the information that the car tax renewals are sent out to your home address and I was wondering why I had never received mine in this way. The other query was regarding the word "insurance" under the car tax renewal, which I think must be a mistake as they are completely different issues.
If the information is incorrect, perhaps it’s time to remove it for newcomers??
