This is Greek bureaucracy at its best with the introduction of a new Covid-19 declaration protocol
If you are from one of the approved countries to come to Greece, here is what you should know…..
In response to the opening up again of international travel, and some 48 hours prior to your arrival in Greece by land, sea or air you will need to access a brand new form, online. Then complete it for presentation on your arrival at the border point.
Known as the Passenger Locator Form – PLF, is believed (we have not seen its contents) that this is a self declaration of who you are, your Covid-19 status (?), where you have routed through to come to Greece and where your final destination in the country will be. The form accessed via your mobile phone or computer can be retained on your phone or printed out as hard copy containing a unique QR code. On arrival at the border crossing, port or airport, officials will screen every passenger and cross reference their information provided in the PLF to prove authentiticity and accuracy in the declaration. The aviation authority left the introduction of the form to the very last minute. Announced on Saturday June 27th, it is effective immediately but the key date will be on Wednesday July 1st, 2020 when many scheduled flights re-start flying operations into Greece. The announcement came in the form of an air safety notice which will stay in effect until August 31st, 2020.
And please don’t forget when you come to Greece, face masks and gloves are to be worn as advised, and social distancing to be respected.
At the website on the same page as the form you will find clear explanation of the procedures to be followed on arrival at the airport, port or border crossing. You do of course appreciate the fact that the word ‘bureaucracy’ is in fact a Greeks word.
Postscript: “UK Removes 14day Quarantine on Return for Vacationers to Greece” maybe of interest as a related article for Brits and other nationalities alike.
Should you be flying in the reverse direction, i.e. Greece to UK, a similar Passenger Locator Form needs to be completed. The one for England is here. For now it appears Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland are using the same form. Except that the start of the form completion process, it says on the page: “The information you provide will be used by the Home Office and Public Health England”.
