Hi We bought a property about 6 years ago close to Elounda through Crete HomeFinders. We paid in full plus paid additional for architect’s drawings, planning and initial building. 5 years ago we discovered there was a problem with the land boundaries so building was delayed. 1 year after that again Crete HomeFinders closed and the builder, a guy called Don Jones, evidently went to Thailand. We had used a lawyer called George Vergetakis, who came well recommended, but the court cases to settle the land boundaries kept getting delayed again and again. We visited Mr. Vergetakis 2 years ago and the case was due to come up at the end of 2012. Since then we have heard nothing. We have tried phoning and emailing Mr. Vergetakis, but have heard nothing. We haven’t been able to travel to Crete since then due to a member of the family being seriously ill but we really need help now. I am not sure if anyone can tell me where Mr. Vergetakis is or if anything has happened to him or what we should do. Many thanks
Our villa was built between 2004/06. At that time a new law had come in that all new builds must be registered. Our lawyer confirmed to us that our property and land ownership had indeed been registered. You can check ownership with the planning office at your town hall from the original plans which will have a reference number.
With reference to George Vergitakis my friend who lives in Crete attended his office in Aghios Nikolaos about 3 weeks ago so unless he has moved very recently he is still running his business there.
I just Googled – land registry Aghios Nikolaos and there was an article written about land registry which would be relevant to you SteveP – it is actually an article on this site but I can ‘t find it when I search it – so Google the above words and it will come up.

There was a outage within BiC somewhere around 2007/2009 when a certain amount was lost to this site. Found this from the main page circa 2009
