Here I am thinking how lovely to be in peaceful Crete, only to be shocked and horrified at the headline in an e-mail I have received from The Ko-Go Khronicles publication about a crime-wave that has plagued the villages of Kato and Pano Gouves.

Our Brits in Crete websites are about the "Reality of Living in Crete" but I wondered if the Gouves crime wave story was too sensational by the publication?

I know Crete is much better than mainland Greece in the overall crime statistics. And darn sight better than UK, but have those members staying on Crete, noticed a higher incidence of the problem this year? Have you been affected, if so how? Are you considering fitting alarm systems to your property?

Adding your vote to the poll here would be helpful.

Please post more information if you can add to this discussion.

The story on Gouves is here: http://www.ko-go.gr :-/

PS – Come back to add your comment on the story, after reading it…opinions count.
