Sorry Gerald, but I don’t like the new layout.
I’s like to be able to see new posts & not have to go to each topic. So, I doubt if I’m going to bother with the BIC forum any more

            Hello Kat

The last 10 postings feature is still on the site. It is that you just have to open it yourself.

It is a different presentation I grant you, and not to my liking also.

In upgrading the system in terms of security and other features to keep up with developments and challenges of the Internet, this version of the software is very different in the engine room than the version we have all been familiar with and got used to. Perhaps I should explain that the YaBB software is an open development software. There is a central group of developers who have worked together and "re-designed" the layout. I am not a member of the design team. Suggestions have been put to them including re-instatement of the "most recent postings" feature.

Also in the old system a number of features were "add-ons" (as the YaBB software grew) and not part of the core design. I think the recent posting feature may have been one of them. A number of these need to be upgraded to this new version. Unfortunately, the original developers may or may not be in a position to help and maybe their "feature" cannot be upgraded even if they could. This is a reason we have lost the "maps" feature in the user profile area.

I "migrated" to this new version to have a safe and efficient website.

Whether we like the overall design or not, what you see is the default version of the software. I am doing my best to try to locate and get the "most recent postings" feature in its old format to be re-instated in the next upgrading – which is in the works already, as I too relied on it too.

            Thanks for your understanding.

            Gerald

Scroll down the front page and in the section called Forum Statistics there is a dropdown box to select how many posts you wish to see.
Once you select a number they will automatically open on the page.
Sorry its a little confusing but hopefully we will be able to get the old system back in the near future. :-X
                    Hope that helps.

Well, I’ve had a look, but I’m bu99ered if I can find anything marked `Forum statistics’
Even doing a text search on the page, reveals nothing.

Not interested in statistics, this new set up is a waste of space will see even more posters departing.

I don’t like it either, why fix what wasn’t broken.

Unfortunately software evolves to keep pace with security issues and new features. The YaBB software is no different to any other such as Windows, the Apple Operating Systems, and most websites. Eventually a version passes its sell-by date and it is no longer economically viable to fix security issues and other bugs. This has happened this last week with Windows XP, for instance. Windows 8 is now geared more towards touch screens. It is something over which Gerald or any other site owner has little control.
