Yes, you can kill figs trees and they aren’t as tough as I thought. We lost a 10 year-old tree over the winter, the theory is a branch was torn off in a gale allowing infection in and the whole tree died with large splits in the branches and trunk. Still, it leaves room for adjacent trees and shrubs to spread themselves – we always seem to plant things too closely in the first place.
It has been another good year for apricots, but a Santa Rosa plum planted 18months ago is still just a leafy twig. Any suggestions?
