Hi, Could I pick your brains please? I have had a look at Filmon site. When I choose a channel it plays but lower down it says viewing time 24 and after 24 seconds the channel stops playing. Is there something I need to do so that I can stop this happening and be able to watch the channel ? Thanks in advance

The SD version is free. The HD version requires a subscription. I watched an entire programme last night on my Mac in SD so it’s definitely working. (I had to download and install the "FilmOn HDi Player" software.)

I also downloaded the FilmOn "App" to my iPod-touch and I can watch programmes on that via any WiFi link.

Thank you for your help. Downloaded HDi player. Choose to view free SD, but still getting 24 sec cut off. sometimes it just switches itself back to HD and wants you to subscribe. At one point it asked for registration with your e-mail address.  :-? I’ve got Vista. Any idea why I might be having this problem. Thank you again.

You have to "subscribe" but it should be free. Just use a temporary (throw-away) email address. If that doesn’t help then let us know so that someone with Vista can try it out and tell you their experience.

(Please don’t use the Private message system to ask questions which everyone should see. That’s unfair and it’s not what PMs are for. They are for exchanging private information, such as address, phone number etc. Questions such as those above should be posted in the open forum so that everybody has an opportunity to reply and to see the answers. I’m not the only person with a little technical knowledge and, as I use only Apple Macs, I certainly won’t be able to answer questions relating to Windows or Linux operating systems.)

Works fine on Vista , you have to be logged in to watch it continuously , otherwise it kicks you out . I am told by friends that Graham Cooke says futurely Sky U.K. will shrink its footprint , so that only people in the U.K. will get Sky T.V. so perhaps this is to  become the only way to watch U.K. channels in future. The site says you need a minimum of 1.5 mbps download speed , and you will need O.T.E " always on "connection to benefit ,as my miserable Voda 10 Gig   gives only 7 hours/month watching time !!!!!

Did Graham say when Sky was going to shrink it’s footprint?

Although I did register and logged in it has never worked for me. It kept timing me out after a few second and referring me to a pay option. So I gave up.

Just tried it again and I didn’t even get a picture.(logged in) Mind my PC seems really slow this week. :(

Independant, There are two buttons top right corner . SD and HD . make sure you always press SD , the button will become green . You wont get timed out then .

Hi thebigbluecheese, Thank you but I was using the SD button but it kept bouncing to the HD on its own.

As its quite early I thought I’d give it another go today. YES!!! it just worked perfectly ;D Fingers crossed I hope it will work later too! ;)

I use Filmon on both my laptop and my I pad. The I pad can be problematic….sometimes losing the picture but keeping the sound….my philosophy is you get what you pay for! In this case I’m paying nothing so don’t feel I can complain. Of course they are always wanting me to subscribe and pay but I did contact them and say I’m not about to sign up and pay for a service as unreliable as this appears to be on my I Pad. Always check that the green box is on SD and register with a password even tho you don’t intend to pay….It worked for me.

Did Graham say when Sky was going to shrink its footprint?

I was at the talk and I don’t recall any mention of Sky programmes being affected – although it’s always a possibility that some will move to the narrow-beam of Astra-2F at some point.

What IS likely is that unencrypted programmes currently broadcasting from Astra-1N will move to the narrow beam of 2F in November. In addition, the BBC announced that its "red button stream" channels will be reduced in number and will move to Astra-1N on October 18th. (This is a rather weird announcement, since 1N is scheduled to be swapped with 2F on, or after, November 1st.) Either way, there’s a strong possibility that the streams will disappear for Cretan residents.

Our internet is so unbearably slow in the evenings just now that it is impossible to stream and watch stuff. I am ashamed to say I am having Corrie and Emmerdale withdrawals. I downloaded Orbit and thought I had cracked it but was only copying the adverts!!!! Any suggestions anyone – bearing in mind I am a total techno numpty.
