who served so bravely in #Athens and #Crete in April and May 1941 in the face of the enemy.

Mrs Una Keast was the last of the famous #ANZAC nurses from #Australia. She died last October.

It was in April 2016, a delegation of the Grand Lodge of New South Wales and New Zealand together with #Greek Consul General, Dr Stavros Kyrimis visited Mrs. Keast.

On behalf of AHEPA NSW, Grand President, Bro. John Kallimanis presented her with a bronze statue of the Anzac hero, John Simpson Kirkpatrick with his donkey from Lemnos, accompanied by a certificate of appreciation for Mrs Keast’s service to liberty and democracy.

Una’s story is to be found here.

Admin – Fittingly posted on March 25, 2017, Greece’s Independence Day.   Xronia Polla! Χρόνια Πολλά. But Greeks are reminded on this day  “Freedom or death“(Ελευθερία ή θάνατος).
