Is anyone else having problems with this BB ? for some days now it has been totally unusable.
We’re back to the `missing icons and all wonky’ of January last year.
I have PM’d Gerald but nothing has come back, judging by the lack of posts it would seem others are probably having trouble.latsida

Mine is back to normal

Yes I managed to read it, but this is what the forum looks like to me http://i46.tinypic.com/9gbhwz.jpg.
Can’t actually put a proper link in this post as you will probably appreciate if you cut and paste it to see what I am having to deal with.
Does the site look normal to you guys?
P.S. Not was experiencing, AM experiencing.latsida

The problem seems to be that the forum displays incorrectly to users of Internet Explorer.

I sent Gerald a PM but still no response, I had my fill of `helpdesks’ when I was working for a living, so I can’t be ar$ed, just use FF.
I can understand it possibly not being fully functional with Opera, being a less common browser, but with I.E. (the worst of the lot in my opinion) I find strange.Forum virtually unreadable for me. Have opened message from admin and logged in / out yesterday and today. No change. Gerald….HELP!!!

We are experiencing some cross browser compatability issues with the forum on the new server and apologise for the inconvenience. The site does work perfectly in Chrome and Fiefox but not Internet Explorer or Opera.
We are investigating at the moment and ask you to bear with us since the changeover had to be accomplished at very short notice.
Please try using Chrome or Firefox as a stopgap until we get to the bottom of this.
The best means of getting a response to a forum problem now is to use the new Helpdesk facilty on http://www.britsincrete.net where we are online 9-5 most days and you can leave a message even if we are offline. This service is provided free of charge to assist with these teething problems.Managed to log in with Firefox but not IE.
Ok all back to normal, except, who is Blackdog , BiC Admin?
Has Gerald sold up?

No Gerald has not sold up and I apologise for not introducing myself. I am a retired UK law enforcement officer and IT project manager. (bit of a strange mix I know). I now live in Crete. My speciality is in Digital Forensics and IT network security and was classified as an Expert Witness to that effect by the Courts in the UK.
Gerald has kindly asked me to assist with the forum in view of the increasing number of hack attempts because of my experience.admin

So here we go again.
For BritsinCrete 2012 was an "horibbulus" year!
The fact that we had good results in searches meant we also got flagged and attracted the wrong kind of people on the Internet.
As you are aware we run the forum on one server and the main web site on another. Both have come under incessant attack from organised hackers more than is usual in the past year.
I have made comments recently to the effect the Internet is becoming an area of business that requires professional help. That is how Dave has become involved. Indeed, Dave (blackdog) transformed the original bic.net site into what it is today, on one of the latest content management system platforms.
Dave’s credentials speak for themselves.
This latest issue with the way the forum is presented on your browser is a huge question mark with IE and Opera browsers. If they are mystified what is causing this problem, please forgive us if we cannot help with all the right answers.
People are complaining I am not responding. All this is coinciding with an attack of gout. I have not been on computer except for urgent things. Call it sods law or what you like. But rest assured we are doing our best. Dave has already worked on this during this weekend.
Thanks for your patience and understanding.
Gerald

Latest …
The forum should be rendering in all browsers normally now.
Dave has had a sleepless night but has found a simple coding error, a bit like the one that made forum pages and pictures mis-align or disappear a year ago. It is one of those things that can happen, in this case when moving the website to new host. This is what makes the Internet so frustrating.
By a complete stroke of luck Dave found this error in a long check list process of elimination.
If anyone is still encountering any difficulty, perhaps have your own check – list:
– refresh web page in your browser
– clear browser cache
– quit browser and re-start
– shut off computer and reboot
– and so on
If you still not seeing the forum the way you usually do then please contact our new help desk service, which Dave announced in an earlier post: http://www.britsincrete.co.uk/cgi-bin/bicforum/YaBB.pl?num=1359070556
Hope, I can now go back to putting my leg up ;)
Gerald

You’re welcome
I’ve had no problems, I use Firefox, except that I’m getting no topic notifications through. Nor PM notifications. Hopefully, this will be sorted out soon.
