Tuesday 3rd June 2014, starting at 11am we are holding a clinic to take feline skin/fur & ear canal samples.
Miss Nelly Kostopoulou a Ph.D. student from The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki will be visiting us to take samples for her research.
Our local Greek veterinarians have assisted Nelly in her work so their is no conflict of interest, it is an amazing opportunity for those of you with cats suffering allergies/lesions/mites or any form of skin issues to have testing for free.
We will be notified afterwards & will contact those with positive results so your veterinarian can decide appropriate treatment.
If you wish to attend please arrange an appointment via the website contact form.
I was wondering how the clinic went? Could you take the time to update us as it sounds an interesting project.
Is there a simple in the house remedy, perhaps herbal that does not require a visit to the vets every time. Especially in Crete where the cats can roam all over in undergrowth where a multitude of things live?
We took 60 samples off 20 cats it went really well. Parasites are endemic and the heat makes it worse, homeopathic/alternative meds rarely work in our experience. Please refer to our info sheet (link below), the only thing we find works for ear mites is stronghold, monthly April to Nov. We use a regime and add differing wormers in addition to the stronghold as tapeworm is a real pain
