One Step Closer to Freeing up Customers’ Use of their Bank Accounts

For those of you with #Greek #bank #accounts in Greece, from September 1, the Finance Ministry is loosening the controls on withdrawal amounts from that date. Currently the euro maximum limit is €840 every two weeks. The marginal increase will be a ceiling of €1,800 per month. A further difference is that monies can be taken out in one go or any amounts up to that monthly limit.

Also from 01/09/2017, new accounts will be permitted to be opened. I had not realised that since the regulations were introduced in the middle of 2015 there was a moratorium on opening new accounts.

These regulations continue to apply to withdrawals over the counter and at ATM machines.

This information was published in the Official Government Gazette on Thursday August 3rd.
