A neighbour mentioned on Friday of the heightened activity of helicopters and fighter aircraft along the northern coast of Crete late last week.

It appears that the Dodecanese and Crete were in a security lock down due to a credible threat of a terrorist attack on Israeli tourists on Greek soil.

To know more on the story, there are interesting details at:
http://www.guide2rhodes.com/news/733/Rhodes-News-Red-Alarm-in-Dodecanese-for-Israeli-Tourists published on Sunday 5th August.

It all makes sense from the timing of the visit of the Israeli PM etc.

I wondered if there was a noticeable police presence at the Chania synagogue in the past week, or more secuirty at Cretan airports?

The police have been at Heraklion airport for some weeks now, since the bombing in Bulgaria.
