Did you know that from May 30, 2019, the Greek Value Added Tax code was cancelled for  leisure vessel and yachting rental businesses?  The only criteria is to show that such a holiday rental is to be on an “effective use and enjoyment basis”.

According the gazetted law, (article 49, L. 4607/2019) if you rent a pleasure craft/yacht for less than 90 days to be used outside Greece’s waters and therefore outside the EU (for example – sailing from Greece to Turkey waters) then such a rental would be VAT exemptB-)

Greece has been told by the EU Commission to bring this tax collection niche for pleasure craft and yacht rentals into line with other EU countries.

More details of this law and how it is being applied
