I have always used Brits in Crete as an information tool, and looked under the event forum, to find out what is going on locally. Usually for me this would mean looking for some live music.

The Dog Pound Blues Review was moved to ‘Self Promotion’ because money is being made from this event and the venue is being advertised (how else will people know where to go!).

This applies to most events put under this forum, unless they are for charity. Which means,  that Quiz Nights, Table Top Sales, Bazaars etc cannot be advertised here.

Where should we place this information? Self promotion is obviously not the right forum.

yes the webmaster is very strict about this rule, even if you want to suggest a good Christmas weekend for people feeling to make a nice time in this hard period, because the place is a holiday resort and they like to make a Christmas weekend, not for the money, but for the fun and to create socializing. And once he is asked about advertisement rates on BIC than he doesn’t answer. Another english men( person) maybe hidid in his own shelf, who thinks he can rule the rule world, that was when england was a super power

I don’t really want to get personal about this. I just want to know, if events that make money for people (however little) are banned from this forum, where, sensibly, they should be posted.

I have emailed Gerald, privately, on this subject but as yet have had no reply.

I thought this forum was to inform people of events happening in their area. If the type of events listed in the subject line are banned, then what else, other than charity events, is there?

I have used this site for a long time now, and recieved some very useful information when we were moving out here. I found the members very friendly and helpful (unlike Interkriti where criticism and sarcasm seemed to have reigned supreme). I find this recent development very disappointing.

Ah ha! thanks for letting us know where to look – I would never have thought of the self promotion section. I thought I was missing a lot of events, this is where they are. Odd.

You will be pleased to know that the LIC forum has now changed the rules so that bands can post there.

Thank you Carolina for letting some sense prevail on one forum at least.

The Blues Band are playing at Totem, Plaka on Saturday BTW. We are doing this free of charge so it is non commercial, although we may be given a tip by the bar. On that basis, this posting is O.K.

Does this mean that there will not be a 4 euro cover charge as usual?

No idea. We just play the music.

If you want to come along ypu could ask them if there is a charge.
