Brit, Rob Hughes, Malia Victim Makes Miraculous Recovery

You may recall how in this forum we covered the story of the young footballer, Rob Hughes who was "bottle" attacked while holidaying in Malia in June last year (2008) and was seriously injured, his diagnosis for recovery was dire.

Rob has made a remarkable recovery, however as captured in the "This Is Croydon Today" website, along with a photograph of Rob practicing on the football field:

It is an inspirational story to anyone with serious health issues!

Update on the  Rob Hughes Story …August 2010

I noticed that this past week Malia has been its liveliest it has been so far this year. Still loads of young Brits (and others) buying booze on sale in the supermarkets at attractive euro prices. With this in mind, it is worth being reminded of the Rob Hughes incident from 2008.

The Brighton Argus newspaper had it covered on August 13th:

Funny that Gerald? My niece and her boyfriend came over to Malia in August (been here 4 years on the trot now) and said it was the quietest they have known it.

Scooby — absolutely correct what you say. Compared to previous years it was definitely quiet er and safer. In fact it was so quiet some weeks in Summer on the main road it was hard to tell it was a holiday resort at all.

The weeks youngsters did show up in numbers– according to the Malia mayor — were much better behaved.
