Hi all, I am planning to build a small pool on my land.( Naxos Island ) Really just enough for cooling off in summer, about 4X5 meters. I always thought tax would be calculated on the size of the pool, but now the architect says it is the same for every pool , small or big, everyone needs to pay the same, 680 Euro a year. Can anybody confirm this here ? When looking to this website it is not the case, but things are changing so quickly in Greece… http://www.cretanaccountant.gr/tax-liabilities-in-greece-for-non-greek-citizens/

The link you have highlighted is correct. The ‘Luxury Tax’ on pools was levied on the sq. meterage of the pool. I do not think there has been any change in that calculation. I paid in the region of 320€ last year I seem to recall for a 28sq.mt. pool.

Fortunately I am not liable to pay it this year since I am not tax resident in Greece being classed as a holiday home owner spending only about 20 weeks, (less than 183 days) of the year in my property.

Thanks for the answer. I also live officially only a few months a year in Greece, but still I pay taxes on the house. Is pool tax only to be paid if I spend more then 183 days a year ?

                        Hi

The pool tax is for residents only at the moment,
i believe it is to stimulate the housing market to
foreign buyers. But knowing the Greek government
                        it will probably change again.
