Many mornings in the front of my house, there are three or four , inch and a half long and tapered what looks like excretia , but on accidently standing on one it turned to grassy fibre.

Can anyone tell me if it is possible that a snake has taken residence here, as I noticed alongside the front wall in the tiny garden large holes.

I have a toad that lives down one hole, he has been with us the last four years. I have tried to identify what kind of toad he is to no avail on the internet. I have tried to take a picture of it but he scarpers down the hole, could it be the toad leaving the deposits ?

I hope someone can help me solve this, as I don`t want my cat harmed by a snake as he has been bitten a few times out and about on the mountain here.

hope it helps to identify yah or nay whether it belongs to a toad or not.

Awwww thank you Brian C, very similar poop in second to last picture.

I was told earlier that owl`s have similar poop, now it is between the large white barn owl that hovers here, a snake or a toad.

I was told that if it was a snake , the poop would have bits of undigested bone fragments in it from small birds and vermin.

The poop I acidentally stood on had only grassy bits, so I think it points to the toad on leaving deposits.

Still searching on what kind of toad it is , body pale beige with swirly markings of a dark brown, he does not resemble any toad I have ever seen.

Size is about 6 inch long and 4 inch wide, he seems to know when I get the digi camera out..!!

Thanks for the link willis, but he looks nothing like them, this is a big mystery to us all here since we first spotted him.

I have searched and searched and still no clue, tried to take many pics but always he scarpers by the time I get the camera ready to focus, every night I try to capture him on camera.

Thanks guys but none of them resemble this toad…. We came home last night and found a smaller one on the drive , this one was paler and smaller but same markings as the one we have in the garden.

I quickly grabbed it and put it in the garden and ran in for my camera, the little swine got out the garden and made a hop for it, and it was too dark to follow.

The resident ( Tommy ) toad, as I mentioned earlier is 8 inches long and about 4 wide, dark beige with squiggly pale green lines all down the back of him. The face is shaped like he is growing a beak as the nose is pointed, the eyes are smallish and black either side.

The smaller toad in the drive was a paler version, a yellowy beige with pale brown squiggle lines all down it`s back.

I keep going out the front garden with the camera in the hope I spot the resident toad.

Another neat dropping has appeared on the wall, and I am convinced it was from the toad, but in the three or so years he has been with us we have never noticed these droppings before, that is why I am worried there is a snake here….!!

I appreciate all your help with this mystery, thank you for your help..xx

Snakes are very timid creatures and as it it now getting much cooler they will be hiding away for the winter.
