I await the window tax, the fresh air tax and the sky at night tax, the swines will tax us on anything now.

We need a revolution as there are no more solutions left.

Take a look at the size of the finance minister, Pilsburry Doh boy, he isn`t suffering as we are , always the rich get richer and the poor man suffers.

Worst thing any country did was join the EU, all the countries are in deep financial trouble, in debt and dillusianal.

We will all be living in caves before very long, I blame the power the banks have, they ruined nations, between the banks and governments we will all be in deep crap.

Todays economy…. there will be two banks left , the blood bank and the sperm bank, and before you know it we will all become a nation of bloody w*****s.

I can’t find any base values published online, but if you have an E.T.AK. tax form for your property (they were issued in 2010), it’s one of the figures on there under "[ch932][ch921][ch924][ch919] [ch914][ch913][ch931][ch919][ch931] [ch933][ch928][ch927][ch923][ch927][ch915][ch921][ch931][ch924][ch927][ch933]".

For us (small village a few kilometres south of Rethymno), the base value is Eur 600. From the tables published in all newspapers yesterday, this equates to Eur 4 per square metre for the new tax. As our house is 6 years old, this then has to be uplifted by 20%, giving a final tax payable of Eur 4.80/sq. mtr.

What isn’t clear to me from the published statement is if it applies to auxiliary spaces (e.g. basements) as well as the main dwelling.

Do you have any links (if they are online) for the newspapers who published these tables Paul?

this is from TA NEA and is a translation

"Based on the scale announced for a new property is 100 square meters in area with an objective value between 2,001 and 2,500 euros, for example Holy Friday, New Smyrna, the Holargos and Rafina, the special fee property reaches 1,000 euros (100 sq for 8 euros a factor of 1.25), while a new 120 square property the most expensive parts of the country with an objective value of 5,001 euros and above the flat fee is up to 2,400 euros.
In scale, the charges start at 0.5 million and reach up to 16 euros. But the secret lies in the old rates, which increase the costs per square up to 25% for newly constructed properties, raising 16 million in 20. Besides the lower cost of 0.5 euros per square applies only to vulnerable groups, while the land in villages with a price band up to 500 euro, forokeramida is 3 euros per square meter. So, for an old building 100 m a village with a price band below 500 euros, the owner will have to pay 300 euros.
If not paid in the end, the amendment provides that the PPC and alternative suppliers of electricity to carry off the power and not resumed until redeemed. "If no request to re-supply, PPC and alternative suppliers, after striking the principal subscriber shall inform the Greek government to arrange for the collection of tax due in accordance with the provisions of the Code for revenue collection, while switching power is not allowed if not previously paid the special fee "refers to the announcement of the Ministry of Finance.
                                                [ch928][ch929][ch927][ch914][ch917][ch914][ch923][ch919][ch924][ch917][ch925][ch917][ch931] [ch922][ch913][ch932][ch913][ch935][ch937][ch929][ch919][ch931][ch917][ch921][ch931]"

Courtesy of one of the posters on greeceishome.gr forum (who found the information in the first place), here is a LINK to a full list of all "zone prices" (the basis for the new tax) throughout Greece.

It’s in Greek and each section opens a (lengthy) .pdf. Crete is section VI, divided into the 4 prefectures (with Rethymno then sub-divided into two areas). The value you want is the one labelled "(T.Z.)".

Although the data is labelled 2007, it seems to correspond with the value on my E.T.AK. form from last year. On a cursory look, many of the zones in Rethymno prefecture seem to be in price band 600, 650 or 700, all of which would correspond to a base tax value (before age uplift) of Eur 4 per square metre. (As Tedblue pointed out above, this is still in draft and due for debate/voting in parliament).

Does anyone know what the town of Aghios Nikolaos itself is and what that means for the rate? Also, how is this going to work for blocks of apartments where the footprint of the building is say 100 m sq but each floor is configured differently and most of the apartments separately owned by private owners, not tenants or landlords?

Scrutinising mine, on the second page within the left-hand box there is an equation for [ch932][ch913][ch928]; the second figure for this is headed as [ch932][ch921][ch924][ch919] [ch918][ch937][ch925][ch919][ch931] – I think this is to what they are referring – in my case – 450, which makes my price €3 per sq. m. Hope this might help. :(
