I have just received a phone call from International State Pensions in the UK asking if I would like to have my pension paid back into a UK bank of my choice, at the moment I have my State pension paid into a Greek Bank
Be aware that any of you who have their pensions paid into a Greek bank will shortly receive a call or Email, and should you chose this option you can have your details ready

thanks for moving my post to a more prominent position, I only added it to the "banks closed" post because it concerned bank accounts and banking ;)

Latsida – its good of you to share this with the rest of us who may be in a similar position.

Is this something new that the UK Government seems to be showing such care over pension payments and retired British expats in Europe experience?

At last count they cut many of us out of the winter fuel allowance. This was just because they were in Europe not UK and wanted to cut benefits costs. They ignore the fact that expats make up a significant voting population if they care to revise the rules on voting for those living outside the UK but are still British subjects. Subjects of the Queen not the government, I might add. We carry the UK’s protection but not the full rights of a British citizen living in the UK. Look at this stupid rule about British driving licenses. If you stay outside UK for more than 90 days you are supposed to swap to a local license in whichever EU country you live. Preposterous.

I wish more expats would speak up publicly about our grievances. Social media outlets are read by the powers that be.

I better not digress anymore otherwise this reply may get moved….  ;)

do not know for sure about the Winter Fuel allowance , has the decision been passed in Parliament yet ?

the UK Eu referendum, if they have one, will be most likely in 2017 but I will not be able to vote as I will have been out of the UK for 15 years,so basically as an EU citizen I cannot vote in the Greek referendum or the UK one, so I am disenfranchised.
the Greeks managed to arrange their referendum in one week lets hope the UK Gov. can do so in less than two years ::) ::)
