I have a couple of spare landline answer phones in the UK, & it would be useful to have one or both of themover here in Crete – one is a BT cordless & the other a Philips 841 DECT cordless.

I know there will be some differences in sockets/wiring. Any advice as to what would be needed to make them work would be much appreciated.

        Many thanks

Don’t know about the phones, but I have a couple of ADSL routers from the UK which work absolutely fine here, even using the same cables.

Most UK phones will work by just changing the phone lead to one with the American RJ11 type plug, but not all.

BT sockets have some additional internal components which provide a "bell circuit", so you will find that some UK phones will work, but others need the "bell circuit" and will not ring.

Best solution is to buy a BT/RJ11 adapter which contains the "bell circuit" – available in the UK for about £6.

Many thanks for your help, both of you. Much appreciated.
