I am posting the following vacancies on behalf of the owners of the Sorrento Bar on the harbour at Aghios Nikolaos. Please reply to the email address shown and not to me or to INCO. Many thanks.  ::)

"Wanted: For Sorrento Bar, Ag. Nik

Beautiful hostess with the mostest (i.e. barmaid!) to work in THE fun holiday bar of Aghios Nikoloas (as seen on "Trust me, I’m a holiday rep!").  Please send recent photie of yourself to and let us know a little bit about yourself.  This is hard work and not for the fainthearted but what a blast!!!   We open for business 4th April until 31st October.

Also vacancies for a barman and a PR man.  If you have got the gift of the gab and would love to work away for the summer, this is your opportunity to do it.  Send recent photie and details about you to and we will get back to you."

Is the Sorrento Bar on the harbour at Aghios Nikolaos in Crete still open?

            Who remembers Yannis and Sorrento?

That is the question I was asked out of the blue. I had to find out.

When did it disappear? Was it when Yannis the original owner moved to Corfu around the economic 2008 crisis period, or was it when the AgNik city fathers wanted to clean up the image of Aghios Nikolaos as a bawdy night club holiday destination.

            A Bar Owner’s Frustrations

I recommend you visit the Sorrento Bar’s blog . I suggest you visit the home page too. Judge for yourself the frustrations of being an owner of such a typical establishment in Agios Nikolaos, Crete, Greece in the past. And now? There is more nostagia on Facebook. Enjoy the ride through a little bit of local night life history in Crete. :mail:

I will have returned to Crete well before the start date. I spent a year there in 2006. I speak SOME conversation Greek, will have improved a lot by April. I’ve worked in Hotels, managed apartment blocks here in Ontario, and educated up to degree standard.

I am very attentive towards people, going out of my way to help wherever I can.

This is just a brief introduction. Will provide an in depth self-assessment if there is initial interest. I am 62, but the attached photo shows how I look for my age.
