Local dignataries and with church blessings, SYN.KA opened its first store in the market garden centre of #Ierapetra in #Southeast #Crete on Saturday (Feb 03, 2018).
Store Location: 18 Papageorgiou (main crossroads) – with parking
Local shoppers have until Feb 14 to benefit from the 50% discount offers and giveaways.
#SYN.KA recently was re-organised and after re-branding from its original name of IN.KA. The move was taken as part of major pan-Cretan expansion from its base in Chania, western Crete. Fascinating to mention that IN.KA started out in Greece’s socialist days as a community store – a cooperative ( a bit like in England, the CO-OP’s original policy of ‘sharing’ the profits). IN.KA basically was the shop that processed and packaged local produce and products for the specific area it served.
Ierapetra is a wealthy area known for its agriculture produce, grown in greenhouses. Not only serving the Greek market in cucumbers, tomatoes and bananas but much of the German and Austrian market too – especially in winter.
