British Expats Could Have Their Travel Insurance Claim Rejected if They Drink, Even One Drink!
Can you believe this? The latest cop out by insurers.
Expats who have private health insurance restricted to their country of residence and then book travel insurance online for their overseas holidays are warned to read the small print before making payment.
UK’s Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS) has accused travel insurers of turning down medical claims using a reference to alcohol in their small print.
The FOS emphazises "read the small print" because that occasional or normal alcohol consumption rate is being used as an excuse to refuse a claim.
While this post is regarding UK insurers, I would suggest the same may apply to other European and western countries as well.
Always read the small print especially if you book online!
