Thanks, I forgot to select "all" instead of "week", now I have the results.
Thanks for the answer. I also live officially only a few months a year in Greece, but still I pay taxes on the house. Is pool tax only to be paid if I spend more then 183 days a year ?
Wooow, nobody has a pool here ? I thought to become at leats a few answers. Still waiting for a reply from a lawyer in Greece, but so far also nothing… >:(
actually I will live in the house the whole year. And I can get the installation from a neighbor, for a very reasonable price.
Hello Crete, we builded a house on Naxos Island 7 years ago, and like almost all other builded houses here, the living and bedroom are described as basement on the plans. We have electricity connected, paid the architect and of course we live in our house now. However people told us from next year there will be more control on this, and you should convert the basement in a bed and living room on the plans and documents from the house.
Now I come to my question, does this really needs to be done by the architect that builded the house ? We had a lot of issues with him, he never fixed all problems that came up on the house, he charged extra for things we did not ask for etc…
We asked him how much it would cost us for legalizing the documents, and I could already see dollars in his eyes. For 2 rooms he is charging 2400 Euros ! And that is too much imo.
So any support here is very welcome !
Thanks and greetings from Naxos !
Also on Naxos it is free, probably because there is no mail distribution where we live, we even don’t have a street name 8-) 8-)
Agree with all, when we builded our house, on Naxos Island, we got ourselve a lawyer in Athens, who also speaks German and English. It costed me a few extra trips for him to fly to the Island, but it was worth it !
Thanks to all, we will go for plastic.

Nurse Gladys, you mean recommend to everyone or to nobody ?
To all, thanks for the advice, still in doubt to use plastic or aluminium…
To D.Giddings, do you think these companies would also like to do a house on Naxos Island ?
Wooow, this is great ! Another :) positive site of this forum !
Also Naxos island is unusually cold and wet, it will clear up soon however ! :) :) :)
We had this problem several times, a truck passed our house, to high loaded, hit the cable and destroyed it. Then the problems start. Call OTE, if you have a mobile phone, and wait a few days. But last time we went to the person who was responsible for hitting the cable, and told him we wanted our telephone back right now. He was a little bit surprised, called to OTE himself and voila, after one hour it was fixed.
Yes we use normal surge protectors, they also didn’t decouple or switched off when the telephone was overloaded.
What is your advice ? Can’t we build in something on the switchboard to protect the whole house, some kind of a stabilizer ? The PC is also starting to do strange things due to the many powercuts…
Below is the link of the company that is hosting my site, I pay 30 Euros a year, inclusive my Domain name, and still got webmail because the rates where changed since I started my hosting there. I think it is sufficient enough for a normal moderate website such as mine…
If you have some time left (in the evening ?) I would suggest you take everything in your own hands and built a site yourself. I have made mine also myself, started with FrontPage 2000 and now I am using Dreamweaver. Not the easiest one, but if you have time you learn fast. I also bought my own domain name, as in my profile below, it costs me about 30 euros a year, including my own email addresses, and hosting. It is really fun, and it’s all my own!
If you need help or an example set up let me know and I will help you.
About satellite dishes, I remember when we left to Naxos, we took a set with us, also from Lidl, a lot of troubles on the plane, and finally it didn’t work as we wanted.
What should be reminded: The dish must be at least 100 CM on Naxos island to receive Astra satellite, and you also need a digital receiver. Analog you can forget they say. So we bought a big dish of 1 meter, and now we can receive all German channels, some Flemish and some English ones. The smaller dish I tried once and it is possible to receive hotbird with it, but you need to point it out precisly.
For all works a setellite meter is a must, don’t try to do it without because it depends on cm’s sometimes.
Here is a website I used a lot years ago, it looks different now but I think there is still good info on it: http://en.kingofsat.net/beams.php?s=6&b=9
Kilikis, thanks. I know that there is still a lot of bureaucracy and even cor…on in Greece sometimes, but there must be rules ???? Where can I find these ?
Geoff, thanks. But still I would like to know what it will cost me. In Greece I can not find a reasonable car below 4000 euros, in Germany I can find a good second hand one for 1000 Euros. Let’s say I pay 1000 Euros paperwork, this still is a difference of 2000 euros ?
Didn’t anybody do this already ?
